Mio DigiWalker C230 GPS Plus Infor
This Post just index all the Plus information about Mio DigiWalker C230 on the Gps-Plus dot Net
The C230 boasts text-to-speech directions, something that is hard to find at such a low price. For memory expansion, it presents an SD/MMC memory card slot.

The C230 for Europe will include MioMap v3 and with Tele Atlas maps of the 22 countries in Western Europe, the C230 remains extremely affordable and is perfect for users who are new to GPS navigation or those looking for a second device for the family.
Mio DigiWalker C230 Professional Reviews:
Cnet Reviewed the Mio DigiWalker C230 and gave out”The Mio DigiWalker C230 is one heck of a small portable navigation system. At 4.2 inches wide by 3.2 inches high by 0.9 inch deep and 6.2 ounces, the C230 is more compact than most PDAs, and while the size is great for transporting between cars or for use on a bike or on foot, the C230 seems almost too petite for in-car use… ”

I don’t have this model, but I have the model that this one is replacing (c220). I believe today is the first day that this model is being released in the US, so there is not too much information about it yet, but a couple sites selling this unit reported that it has TTS (text-to-speech, which will read out the street names). If it truly has TTS, then this will by far be the cheapest TTS-enabled GPS unit out there today. The next non-Mio GPS unit that has TTS will be the Garmin c350, which costs almost twice as much as this unit. So if the c230 REALLY has TTS, then I will have to give it 12 stars!! Another very cool new feature this unit is suppose to have is that the maps are now stored in the internal flash, which completely frees up the SD card slot for future expansion. The screen is suppose to be new and improved as well. Everything else pretty much stayed the same.
Now, there is one negative side to this new unit. It is much less hackable. With the c220, you can get to the OS level and add third party applications to it (i.e. media player, picture viewer, games, etc). However, with the c230, there is no way to exit MioMap, because the exit door has now been removed. For the average user, this is not a big deal, but for hackers out there, hacking is now a lot more difficult. Perhaps someone will figure out a way to hack into it regardless, but at the moment, I don’t think MioMap v3.3 is easily hackable.
With all that being said, I will be the first to line up to get this new unit. The older c220 was already way awesome, beyond its time, so giving it TTS, maps on internal flash, and supposedly a new and improved screen, the c230 will be the buy of the century!
