Palm GPS Navigator Smartphone Edition Review
The Bluetooth GPS receiver uses a removable and rechargeable Li-Ion battery that Palm says is good for about five hours of life. On the plus side, the cigarette-lighter power cable can charge both the Treo and the GPS receiver simultaneously, and the receiver uses a USB type-A device connector so it can also charge through a USB port (but the appropriate cable isn’t included in the package).

Palm GPS Navigator Smartphone Edition Review
Build quality is good on this receiver–its light weight belies its solid construction. A nice “Palm” logo is embossed on the top panel. A row of colored LEDs provides satellite lock, Bluetooth pairing status, and battery life. The annoying rubber flap over the USB port of the GR-230 has thankfully been eliminated.

Palm GPS Navigator Smartphone Edition Review
There are some added bonuses to the Palm GPS Navigator. If a POI has a phone number associated with it, you can dial it directly from your Treo–great for, say, making dinner reservations or calling ahead to see if there are any vacancies at a hotel.

Palm Z22 GPS Review
Because the Z22 is a low-resolution (160×160 pixels on the screen) Palm OS device, it is harder to find some of the newer games and applications that are compatible with it. But you aren’t totally left out in the cold as there are some applications, especially the ones listed in the AddIt program, which are compatible and look very nice on the Z22’s screen.

Palm Z22 Consumer Reviews

Reviewed by lincon—June 24, 2006
Strengths: Low cost, easy to use, color screen, small size is easy to fit in pocket or purse
Weaknesses: Screen is smaller than state of the art PDAs
Summary: This is a very easy to use PDA right out of the box. We purchased this unit for my wife’s mom who is not an electronics lover, however the Palm OS and simplified button menus made this an easy to use PDA for her. It is easy to create and store names/addresses, memos, and even upload photos. There are just enough functions to satisfy any beginner without other confusing features. There are no wireless or online functions, so this would not be the unit to get for any expecting to expand their PDA later on. Durability of the unit remains to be judged, but the overall build quality feels good. Continue Reading »
